Diary of a Naked Artist

Commercial Drive, Strathcona, China Town and the Skytrain

		A bunch of friends meet up with me at my place and we head out to take a walk 'round the 'hood. We are no sooner out the front gate when some neighbours from across the steet make a beeline towards me, wanting the scoop on the "Pink Guy". We do the usual intros and they are very fun and nice and cool and everything. And they really dig my outfit.


There are 6 of us all together and at least 10 cameras because everyone is like, an artist. There are rarely more than 4 of us in any given snapshot as everyone is totally obsessed with picture taking.		We head down The Drive where a sexy new Turkish restaurant is offering free streetside fare to nearly naked people. It's a day for ME!		We stop for gelato at this joint on Venables that has a zillion flavours. There are no pictures of me in this place as everyone is overwhelmed by the seeming endless supply of Italian Ice Cream, and all are far to busy trying to eat their cones seductively instead of worrying about photographing moi. There is time for a pic or two across the street, though, and one of the artists places me strategically along side of this sexy peach stucco structure with a dazzling blue building and sky serving as a backdrop.


The artists express themselves by setting me up in a variety of poses against various textures and colour fields such as in front of warehouses...		...beneath blossoming cherry trees like in some cheesy magazine...		...and on the pedestrian walkway over the train tracks at Keefer Street in Strathcona.		They find a suitably green wall to be juxtaposed against my pinkness, and demand a "full monty" on a stairway in this quiet residential area.


We take a quick stroll through China Town where there are many curious onlookers. They are used to having a lot of freaks in this area as the city's prime junkie zone is a mere block away, so the shop owners try to pretend I'm not there and go about their business. A few are delighted by my presence and spend a fair bit of time giggling and pointing so they must be tourists.								Somehow I manage to resist goosing this produce vendor who is bending over.

		We exit China Town as one of our party has a rapidly filling bladder, and signs on shops here indicate they have "NO PUBLIC WASHROOMS". We head for the Plaza of Nations in search of a pissoir and a $2 pedicab ride.

I take the SkyTrain home 'cause it is the sexy way to travel here in "The 'Couve". I have my house keys hanging off my left nipple and this attracts a fair bit of attention from the other riders who heatedly debate whether it is a fashion statement or merely function.
