Diary of a Naked Artist April 27th and 28th, 2002 "The Everything to do with Sex Show" |
| I checked out the show while in street clothes on the afternoon of the 27th. Of course, I knew a couple of exhibitors and they gave me some guest passes so that I could come back as Naked Artist. | THE EVERYTHING TO DO WITH SEX SHOW |
That night I got in a cab and headed for the show around 10pm. The cabbie hadn't driven anyone pink before, so he was quite amused. We pull up to the Plaza of Nations and I get out and head across the square towards the entrance. I hear "I dunno, ask that pink guy" and a young couple come over to me wondering where the show is. Like, they just KNEW I was headed there. They only had one ticket so I gave them one of my passes and they were delighted. I felt like I was some kinda nutty goodwill ambassador. | ||

The show is quite mainstream so people are really amused by me, because I am not, uh, AT ALL mainstream. Mostly it's people checking out dils, vibes, lubes, and latex, and of course, the BUNGY SEXPERIENCE. I meet this crazy chick who has a PR firm that is promoting stuff at the show and we do some photos and have some laughs. She and her crew are among the few really interesting and "with it"people at the show that night, and they all really dig the naked bit. | |
| I do the full monty at her booth and it causes quite a sensation. We are outta control, it seems. Anyway she has a job to do so I toddle off and make a quick round to all the booths. I stop at this spot that is selling penis enlargement vacuum pumps, but, as you can see from the photos to the right, I don't need it. The people who gave me the passes have already closed up shop and left for the night, and therefore I haven't had a chance to thank them so will have to stop by again tomorrow. I cab it home and amuse another taxi driver. |  |

The next day I take a little side trip from my jaunt around The Drive, Strathcona and China Town and pop in to say "Thanks" to Micheline and Franco from Ben Wa Canada who so generously gave me the guest passes to the show. They are super cool & decent people. They have a thriving wholsale business based out of the Vancouver area as well as the most awesome retail location in Victoria called Kiss & Tell. They carry edible massage bars and an amazing selection of the finest quality and sexiest devices known. I make a few trips around the show and head out 'cause i gotta SkyTrain to catch. | |
